Parrot Creative turns to remote working: here’s why

Man working remotely from home

Remote working was once seen as something just for freelancers or the self-employed. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has triggered significant changes in how we work, prompting many businesses to move from an office-centric culture to a more flexible way of working.

Parrot Creative has offered a flexible work-from-home policy for all team members from its inception.

We’re now taking things a step further by becoming a fully remote working company. It involves taking the entire team out of the office and switching to working from our team’s chosen locations.

Why are we switching to remote working?

Since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had only a handful of face-to-face client meetings. Based on our personal, team, and business goals, it doesn’t make sense for us to tie everyone down into a single office.

With the switch to remote working, our team will be able to design their workdays around the things that matter most to them, whether that’s dropping the children off at school or taking a midday yoga class.

Remote working benefits for employees

Our team is our top priority, and so, here are some of the ways in which remote working will benefit our team:

Freedom and flexibility

Freedom and flexibility to plan their work and home life around family, friends, pets, hobbies, medical appointments, and more. It isn’t an issue if they want to walk their dog or take a break in the garden.

Saving on unnecessary costs

Working remotely can save our team a lot of money. No more costs such as commuting, lunches, work clothes, or child care / dog walking! You can also take advantage of many tax deductions based on your location.

Choice of where to work

Our team won’t be bound to work within commuting distance, or even in the UK! Working remotely means that it doesn’t matter if you want to live in a city or halfway up a mountain – it’s all possible these days thanks to internet providers such as Starlink.

Peace and quiet

Work in peace away from a busy office, countless people, car parking, and the noise of ringing phones! There’s a different feeling of accomplishment that comes from being able to complete tasks and goals without interruption.

Improved health and happiness

We all know that commuting to work can be stressful. You have to deal with traffic, pollution, and sometimes even dangerous weather conditions. Not to mention, you’re also exposing yourself to germs and illnesses by being in close proximity to so many people in an office building.

Comfortable and personalised working environment

A comfortable environment can also help lower stress and improve mental health. It also allows you to set up your workspace the way it suits you, which can lead to improved productivity.

It’s what employees want

Numerous research has shown that remote and hybrid working are what employees want! We are living during times when companies are switching to a 4-day working week and people successfully sustain full time ex-office jobs while remote working from abroad, a country farm, or while travelling.

How remote working will impact our clients

We understand that some people may have concerns about working remotely. But we’ve been doing it successfully for several years as part of our previous hybrid work-from-home policy. Our clients can expect the same level of quality and professionalism from our team, regardless of where they are based.

Improved access to talent

One of the biggest benefits of remote working for our clients will be that we will no longer be tied to a local talent pool. Instead, we can build our team using top-tier talent from our the world – exceptional individuals that will deliver quality work.

We’re ready for remote working

Moreover, our team, software, and systems are already set up for remote working, and so, you won’t see any immediate changes in how we work. However, the most notable change is that we will aim to take 99% of meetings via video call and handle support remotely via remote access software.

Summary

We believe that switching to remote working will have a hugely positive impact on our team and, in turn, the work we produce for our clients. We’re excited to embark on this new chapter and see what the future of work holds for us all, and I’m personally excited to be working from home with my cat!
